WIDTH:
While measuring the width for a curtain placement, measure the window or door from left to right adding a few inches of about 2 – 4 inches on each side for overlap and fabric bunching.
For a full gathered look, curtains should be 2 times or 3 times the width of the window or door. For a sleek look, curtains should be 1 to 1.5 times the window or door width.
LENGTH:
While measuring the length for a curtain placement, leave about 4 – 6 inches above the window or door frame in order to allow for; rod placement, fabric gathering and a curtain balanced look.
Leave about 1 inch gap between the curtain and the floora clean elegant look. This prevents dust accumulation and wear on the fabric.
